Simple Five Spice Flank Steak with Shiitakes, Peppers, Onions
-
• 1 pound boneless beef flank steak
-
• 5 ounces shiitake mushrooms, cleaned and sliced
-
• 1 large onion, roughly diced
-
• 1 red pepper, seeded and chopped into strips
-
• 1 lime, juiced
-
• 1.5 tablespoons toasted sesame oil
-
• 1 tablespoon Chinese Five Spice
-
• sea salt
-
• Cilantro, optional garnish
- Place steak in a shallow dish. Rub the oil on both sides of the meat. Season with sea salt and Chinese Five Spice on both sides. Squeeze lime over steak. Refrigerate for one hour.
- In a grilling pan on medium heat, place the steak on one half of the pan. Place the veggies on the other half. Cook until desired doneness. (I like my steak medium-rare and my veggies soft with a little crunch). Let steak rest for 5 minutes before thinly slicing against the grain.
- Serve together in a bowl with optional cilantro garnish.
- Enjoy!
